Update on Emmett

This little boy has given us a run for our money! It's funny because about three or four months ago, I thought "Yay! We are out of the getting into everything/ruining things stage!" WELL, not anymore. We have had so many incidents in the past month that I have almost lost count. Thankfully I have learned to have a sense of humor through it all, otherwise I would have literally lost my mind!

I think I have learned a lot about motherhood these past few months. NEVER has a child or person frustrated me more, but I have learned to love this little boy even more than before...if that makes sense? I guess all the hundreds of prayers I offer up during these long days are working on my heart. I feel like Heavenly Father really is making my burdens light through out the day...which I am SO grateful for.

A few things I want to remember about my Emmy right now:

Two year old stats:

Weight: 27.8 lbs. - 48th percentile

Height: 36.25 inches - 94th percentile

Head circumference: 19 inches - 80th percentile

He has the cutest little imagination. I love seeing his independent play. He gets so into his cars and almost everything has a sound that goes with it. It is so adorable! I have so many pictures on my phone of me sneaking around a corner and taking pictures like this. I always think "Oh crap, its tooooo quiet!"...and then I go out to see him playing quietly and talking to himself or reading books. I'm not really sure why, but its one of the most rewarding things for me as a mother!

A few funny things:

One night when I was cooking dinner, Emmett was being so clingy (which is not very normal for him) He kept saying "up please, up please mommy!" I was in a little bit of a time crunch, so I asked him if he wanted me to carry him in the Ergo and he said "ya!". So, I finished cooking dinner while carrying around my two year old on my tummy. I was in heaven that I got to hold my little goer for more than two minutes! I guess he just needs a good loving from his momma from time to time...even if he won't admit it! ;)

Another night while cooking dinner, Emmett was very intently playing with a plastic fork. For probably 25 minutes he was out in the backyard digging with it, looking at it, putting it on his bike and riding around with it. Well, somehow it broke and he was SO sad. I told him to bring it to me and I would see if I could fix it. I was dying when he brought me a little nail and his broken fork! I guess he has been watching his Daddy fix things with nails a lot lately! He cracks me up!

The other day when Emmett was playing outside, he ran in and said "Mommy, mommy, mom!!" I said "what!?" He ran over and brought me this little seed thing (no idea where he got it out there) and
yelled "Its a bean!!"

He also LOVES this little bouncy chair that we usually put Simon in. I will look over sometimes and see him just sucking his thumb in it. Its so cute!

Gosh, I love this little boy! Even though he drives me nuts most days, I wouldn't trade his spunky personality for anything!!!

Our little chunk!

I was so terrible at documenting Emmett's growth over the past two years, and I regret it so much now! I always find myself wondering how big Simon is compared to Emmett at his age. From now on, I want to write down each of their stats every time they go to the doctor. I love seeing how much they grow each month!

At Simon's one month check-up he was:

Weight: 10.8 lbs. - 76th percentile

Length: 21 inches - 48th percentile

Head circumference: 14.75 inches - 68th percentile

Two Month Check-Up:

Weight: 13.12 lbs. - 85th percentile

Length: 23.5 inches - 75th percentile

Head circumference: 15.5 inches - 62nd percentile

We love this little chunker! Almost every night, I always find myself saying how good of a baby he is to Danny. I love that he gives his momma a little break after dealing with his older brother! ;) We love you baby boy!

Uncle Matt's Farewell

On Friday we headed to California to meet up with everyone in Danny's family for Matt's farewell! It was such a special weekend and we were so glad that we got to go. We got in at about 3:30 p.m. on Friday to Ron and Becky's. We had fun watching all of the kids play and have fun together. We ordered pizza for dinner and then around 8:30 Danny, Matt, and Jesse took Emmett and Noah to the pool to go in the spa. Danny let Emmett just go in naked and said it was the cutest thing ever. We headed back to our hotel for the night after that so we could all get some sleep. Emmett was so hyper when we got there and had fun exploring our hotel room and jumping on the beds. He thought this mirror was so funny for some reason and kept staring at himself in it.

The next morning we headed back over to Ron and Becky's. Chad and Laura had gotten there late that night so we were able to see them and their new little baby, Kate, who is only two days younger than Simon! She is adorable! And no, I did not get ONE normal picture with them, but thankfully their dads were being weird and put them in some funny poses!

They already were making them wrestle...

That night we went to a yummy Mexican restaurant with everyone and then dropped the toddlers off at Lindsay and Ryan's where they had a babysitter waiting for them. We headed back over to the house where we had a special evening for Matt. We all sat in a circle and went around the room to share some feelings/stories about Matt. It was emotional and really neat to see the love everyone has for him. After a late night there, we picked Emmett back up and headed back to the hotel. Emmett was being so cute with Simon that night so we had to take a few pics!

In my favorite jammies of his!

The next morning we woke up to get ready for church. Emmett loved walking around with his towel wrapped around him like his daddy!

Matt did a phenomenal job on his talk. I had to take Emmett out during the meeting, and it was so cute because as we walked out Emmett was yelling "Matt, Matt!". He loves his uncle so much! We then went to Danny's Aunt Cindy's house for lunch. She has a beautiful house and yard and decorated it so nicely for the luncheon. We had fun catching up with Danny's old friends and extended family. By the time we left we were EXHAUSTED from colds that we both had and from not getting great sleep. Thankfully we had some energy drinks to get us all the way home. At least these boys slept great! ;)

We will miss you Uncle Matt! You are going to be an AWESOME missionary in Charlotte, North Carolina!

Huge catch up!

Instead of writing a million blog posts on everything that has been happening the last few months, I'm going to combine it into one big post! I don't want to forget all the fun things we have done since we have basically been gone or busy every weekend!

Pool days:
The one upside of Vegas is that it is only April and we are already swimming! Emmett has done amazing and is really picking it up fast. Part of me wonders if I will ever even put him in swim lessons since we are at the pool almost every day in the summer. Here are a few pics I snapped from our first pool day a few weeks ago.

My cute friend Liz got Emmett to laugh by standing behind me and saying "Booger!" It was so funny and Emmett obviously thought it was hilarious!

Emmett and his future wife, Kenli. We are SO sad that they just moved to Utah! We will miss you guys!!

Washington Trip:
Our family flew to Washington when Emmett was just four weeks old to surprise my sister for her bridal shower, go through the temple with Erica for the first time, and hopefully see her open her mission call! It was SUCH a fun extended weekend. Again, I wish I would have snapped more pictures there, but here are a few we did get. Erica got called to Milwaukee, Wisconsin! We couldn't be more excited for her. She is going to be an AMAZING missionary. She has such a good heart and a love for people that will bless the lives of so many people in Milwaukee! I am so proud of her for making good decisions to get to this point and for being sensitive to the Spirit. I have so much to learn from her and wish I had her humble and teachable attitude. I love her and will miss her So much!

This was right after Simon wet through his whole outfit on our descent unto Seattle! The fasten seat belt sign was on and we were about five minutes from landing, so I had to just strip him out of his clothes and wrap him in my jacket until we could get our diaper bag from the over head compartment.

Funny little story: Danny and I were a little nervous to fly with these two boys. Mostly because of Emmett. He usually does awesome on car trips if we give him a movie to watch on the iPad. So we got on the plane, got all set up, put a movie on, and gave Emmett some head phones so he could hear the movie. All was well, and Danny and I looked at each other with a smile since he was quiet. Well, before we even left the ground, Emmett throws off his headphones and says "All done!" Haha we were a little panicked that we had not even started the flight yet and he was already restless! Thankfully we made it to Washington without too many mean looks from others. Lets just say I will not be flying with these two by myself for a lonnnnngg time!

Park Days: The other thing we LOVE about Vegas is that they have some AWESOME parks. We have found some of our favorites already and can't wait to explore some more before it gets too hot out!

The Container Park:
This was fun for both Emmett as well as us. Tons of food, fun music, and things to look at. Emmett loved the huge slides on the big play structure and we loved watching him build things out of the giant foam blocks they had.

I find that most of the pictures I have of Emmett are of the back of his head (...I'm ALWAYS chasing him!)

Exploration Park...TONS of grass...and TONS of play structures! Emmett was in heaven running his little heart out.

The day we went was the Monday after Easter...Emmett found tons of leftover Easter eggs hidden in the grass which kept him occupied for the longest time! It was awesome!

Reunion Trails Park
One Monday night I was trying to think of what we could do for family night. I didn't want to make dinner so I decided we could go to a picnic at the park so I could just make sandwiches ;) I wanted to go to the splash park at Reunion Trails and had been telling Emmett all day that if he was a good boy, we could go play in the water that night. He was so excited. Well, upon arrival, we realized that the splash pad didn't open until May 1st...not April 1st like I had originally thought! Emmett kept asking "Wheres the water!?" I felt terrible but thankfully there is a fun park there too so we just played on that after we ate dinner!

Here are a few random things we have done:

Red Rock Canyon:
On Easter Sunday after watching General Conference, we decided to take a drive through a little bit of Red Rock Canyon. I have never been there and it was BEAUTIFUL! I am famous for always saying how ugly Vegas is, but after seeing the canyons and the amazing colors on them, I might be eating my words!

Making TONS of cookies
I don't know why, but I seriously have been craving cookies lately. I have probably made 7 batches in the past month. No joke. Emmett loves to help me (sometimes a little too much). ;) Danny snapped this picture of one of the times I made some after church while Emmett was helping. Our favorites have been oatmeal chocolate chip, Oreo pudding, and Andes Mint cookies!

We just got back from California last night but I will save that for another post! :)
