Emmett's first Father and Son's Campout

Last week, Danny took Emmett on his first campout. He is seriously the best dad! Sleeping in a small tent with your two year old doesn't exactly sound super fun to me, but they had a blast and I'm so grateful for all the pictures they took!!

I dropped Emmett off at Danny's work around 4 p.m. Emmett had been talking about camping all day and sleeping in a tent. I think the thing he was MOST excited for though, was that he got to ride in "Daddy's car". Danny's four runner is LOUD and Emmett loves the noises it makes when Danny turns the car on, accelerates, etc. He talks about it ALL DAY LONG, so when he got to ride in it for an hour and a half to the campsite, he was pretty ecstatic!

I had to throw this pic in here...Having the whole night to myself (and little Simon), I brainstormed all the things I could do/catch up on. I thought I would fold all the laundry, blog, maybe work out, or clean my house! Well, I ended up getting Panda Express and then a blizzard at Dairy Queen and going home and watching Friday Night Lights for three hours before going to bed. Not so productive, but it sure was amazing!!

After they set up their tent, Danny tried really hard to get a good picture of Emmett in front of it. This is the best he could do! haha

Getting their beds set up in their tent

Apparently Emmett was NOT ready to go to bed even though he got to stay up until 9 o'clock. There were older kids running around outside with flashlights and being pretty loud, so it took a while for him to settle down!

Finally Danny turned on Kung Fu Panda and Emmett slowly got tired :)

The next morning Emmett woke up bright and early at 5 a.m! They ate breakfast and sat by the fire for a little bit. Emmett was terrified of it at first. He kept saying "Hot, Hot!" which I am so grateful for! After seeing all he older kids poking sticks in it though, he had to take part.

I laughed so hard at this picture. Waayyy out in the distance all the older boys were playing and Emmett wanted to follow them....but he made sure to keep his distance so that he didn't get too close.

On their way home, he passed out from pure exhaustion! I can't wait for all the future Father and Son's campouts these two will have! :)
